Bhagobotipur Primary School
Gazipur Panchayat, District South 24 Paraganas, West Bengal, India
Classes: I-IV
“Only the educated are free” -Epictetus (55 AD - 135 AD), Discourses
Currently, Bhagobotipur Primary school has 106 students enrolled including 41 girls and 65 boys. The school was in a poor condition, with little supplies and a learning environment on conducive to successful literacy education. Through contributions to Foundation for Freedom and the efforts of the dedicated school staff, numerous developments have taken place towards making the school structure and environment a much better place to ensure successful teaching to the children.
Here is a brief list of developments undertaken in the past couple of months in this school:
- The school building was in a shambles. A thorough repair of the roof and the floor was done to prevent leaks and improve safety.
- Complete plastering and distempering of the all the walls on both sides (inside and outside) and cementing of the roof and floor was accomplished.
- 4 wooden doors and 9 steel windows with fiberglass were installed which will protect the kids and the teachers from the vagaries of nature like rain and cold.
- 2 chairs, 1 table and 16 benches were procured for students and teachers.
- A boundary was built around the school baranda to improve security as well as to keep the stray animals away.
- On the school roof, a parapet wall was constructed for the safety of students and teachers.
With these improvements the overall safety, as well as look of the school building, has improved considerably, and the school infrastructure is should last a long time now. Most importantly the environment is more condusive to successful teaching of the students
